You can tell the difference between 720p-1080i then switch to blur-ray at 1080P depending on the size of your TV. The thing is, you must have a televison capable of viewing 1080P. The qualitiy of the TV makes a difference also. It looks much better on a larger screen also. And the only way to get the best picture using 1080P is to use HDMI hook up. Regular DVD is broadcast in 480p, They look good on a blu-ray, but nothing compares to a Blu-ray disk when watched on the correct set. I have had Blu-Ray for about 1 year or longer now. The movies are so much better.
Regular High Def TV that you see is at the most 1080i. I know Direct TV is starting to show some movies on PPV in 1080P.
There is alot more to a Blur-Ray disk also. alot of room for future use. You can get alot better audio and all. Here is a link to check out:
