Putin's only concern is how history shows him. He wants to "reunite" Ukraine with Russia to recreate the "old empire". In reality Russia took over all those countries and ruled them with an iron hand. Some wonder why we should care about Ukraine, well, let's remember when Hitler took over Poland, and other counties and no one wanted us to get involved. If Germany didn't declare war on us (which got us into the war) he might have seceded in keeping Europe. Plus Ukraine is a democracy and we need to protect ANY country that may lose it (including our own).
