My answer is that golfers and any other golf car drivers or passengers are part of the whole US society - which is in TURMOIL It is probably greater than even the 1960's when the social change due to the Vietnam war and other issues intensified these changes.
........Today the Villages is not special or completely insulated from rapid change. Today's problems put maximum MENTAL pressure on various groups. Young school children have learning and socialization problems. College-age semi-adults face additional problems and mental pressure. Today's adult workers both professional and non-professional face pressure from RAPID changes in technology and automation - not to mention the obvious public health concerns.
.......Crime is increasing. Suicides are increasing. Alcohol use and reckless driving are increasing. Daily costs are increasing so any fixed income gets squeezed. Mental health problems are increasing. So, there is little wonder that littering with whiskey bottles and other objects along TV Land roadways has increased. We are in a pivotal and problematic period of history. The best solution is to stay as empathetic and helpful toward other people as you can possibly be. And hope for the best and that bad things resolve themselves soon.
