Why? Tennis (if played at high level) is 15 times plus harder than pickleball. You can pickup pickleball quickly even though never played racket sport. Tennis like golf takes years to prefect stroke (at high level which most don’t have) About Every tennis court reserved each morning. It’s not show up and play sport, like pickleball and twiddlywinks.
Now I do agree some rec centers that are close shouldn’t have pickleball or tennis. Saddlebrook and laurel manner. Saddlebrook should be pickleball only (12) courts and laurel manner should be tennis only beings they are so close. Canal street and Bacall another good example beings there so close.
Then there the age problem, beings tennis is more demanding and hard on joints (if Played at high level) tennis players eventually give it up and resort to pickleball where they can still get good exercise with limited movement. Why doubles Pickleball so popular cause most can’t and don’t have the stroke for singles pickleball. World of difference in two sports.
Nobody hardly ever plays horse shoes yet every rec center has them. But, still available for card paying members.
