Who was it that controlled the House and the Senate for the 1st 6 years of Bush's term?
Just wondering....because whoever controls the subcommittees controls the bills that are brought to the floor.

There can be finger-pointing from now until doomsday on this, but the fact is they all - Republicans and Democrats in Congress and the White House - all have unclean hands regarding Freddie & Fannie. The amount of campaign contributions distributed by Freddie & Fannie was immense by anyone's standards, and candidates from both parties got handfuls of cash. They knew where the money was coming from, and what was expected in return for the money.
And the real fools in all of this are we voters. How many ever paid any attention to the candidates other than how they looked and whether they said anything we wanted to hear? How many voters ever reviewed the available public documents on who contributed to the campaigns or ever noticed who the "groupies" were who handled the campaign and managed the candidate's appearances, wrote the speeches and were being paid out of campaign funds for "services" ?
The question also is, will we be as blind and deaf during Campaign 2010? Next year Florida will be electing a new governor and subordinate offices; and at the federal level a new senator, and all of the representatives. Who will bother to really find out who the candidates are and if they are beholding to anyone? And if you think the news media will do that job with accuracy and without bias, I know where there is some swampland along the Gulf Coast where TV-II can be built - it just needs your investment.
