Batting is Superior to Blown-in Insulation

In areas where homes are “stick framed” the ceiling joists are a minimum 2x6 and usually 2x8 so there is an adequate pocket for thick insulation. Here these truss roofs are mostly 2x4 bottom cord . If you have been in your attic over the garage you will see multiple wires stapled to the top of that 2x4. Blown insulation doesn’t move if installed properly with baffles at the outside walls to keep the insulation from going into the soffit vents. Batts should be installed before flooring an area however

Sorry, but over time, blown-in insulation always moves due to the airflow (wind) from your attic vents around the soffit.
Batting never moves and you can get a much better R-factor in batting than you can in blown-in insulation.
