My take on it is that if there is a market for "senior" or "retirement" developments, somebody is going to develop it. If it's going to be right next door to the one I've chosen to buy into, I'd prefer it's developed by someone with a track record of knowing what they are doing, and doing it well.
I don't need to commute to the far reaches, and the residents of the newer areas are unlikely to get in my way very often. I see more benefit for me than negatives.
