Yep, what they said. If you were in person with the office woman she probably would have hugged you too. Up until the "virus" southerners gave customary hugs as a form of friendly greeting. Having grown up in New England that shocked me when I ended up in FL 36 yrs ago.
I agree with another post your lawn will only benefit from the treatment on the grass. Consider it a gift. It could have been a nasty neighbor killing your lawn on purpose, like what happened to a friend of mine over dog poop!
