Thermae Romae Novae (New Roman Bathhouse), anime series, on Netflix. A Roman architect from approximately 130 A.D., Lucius Modestus, is fired from his job designing bathhouses because his ideas are old fashioned. One time in a bathhouse he falls down a drain into a 21st century Japanese hot spring. Each time he goes down the drain, he enters another part of Japanese bathhouse culture. At the end of each episode, the writer/illustrator visits a different Japanese hot spring or bathhouse that inspires her series. The English narrator’s booming voice fits perfectly.
