Not so. Unfortunately they put their lives in the hands of strangers driving heavy vehicles. That's why I gave it up.
Too many bad drivers.
Too many drivers using cell phones while driving.
Too many ignorant drivers who think the bicyclist is supposed to stay in the right-most 3 feet, so it is invisible to people ahead on the right trying to turn onto the roadway, and so cars can try to squeeze between it and the lane boundary.
Too many people who think they have a right to have their dog run free and chase bicyclists.
Too many jerks who think the best place to throw a beer bottle is out the car window.
Too many impatient motorists.
Too many old people on meds that make them drowsy or lightheaded or faint.
Too many drunks.
