I'm here long enough to remember
Harold Schwartz walking around Spanish Springs shaking hands with everyone that approached him and asking on feedback on what he could do better for you. He liked
Teo’s Café and Saloon too. His favorite topic was "We'll build a hospital soon."
Now his son,
H. Gary Morse was just the opposite. More of a recluse, like Howard Hughes. Not that there is anything wrong with that personality, just that there was much contrast between father and son. I prefer the outgoing type. Made you feel important. Old man Harold made it
Florida's Friendliest Hometown. Gary made it
Florida's Most Profitable Hometown.
We often saw
Jennifer Parr and
Tracy Matthews shopping in the stores in Lake Sumter Landing or dining at the
Havana Country Club when it first opened. They were always very cordial to residents.
Sometimes attitudes skip a generation.
