I was fortunate with my expansion tank. It was full of water but before removing it I tried pressurizing it. For me, it worked. I was able to bring it up to 65 psi and it is working.

NOTE: To add pressure I first shut off the cold water into the tank and then opened a hot water faucet. By doing this I had no back pressure on the bladder so the only reason it would gain pressure is if the bladder was still good.

I doubt I had very nasty water in the tank - that might be a sure sign that it was truly bad.

Why do people insist on making claims without looking them up first, do they really think no one will check? Proof by emphatic assertion rarely works.
