Half right---it demonstrated that less guns in the hands of CRIMINALS = less crime. The police stopped and frisked individuals who "looked" like criminals, leading to less crime, but also "unconstitutional" since it was interpreted as "profiling".
It simply reminds me of an interview on 60 minutes with the head of Israeli airport security, since Entebbe no El Al plane has ever been hijacked. Mike Wallace asked how they do this---and the answer was simple---"we don't look for guns or bombs, we
profile the individual"---100% effective for them, here, "unconstitutional"
