Second experience: I was living in Orlando and coming home from work one night heading east on Rt 50. I saw a VW swerve off the road about half a block ahead of me and soon found out why. Some female, drunk out of her mind was heading west of eastbound 50. I hadn't enough time to swerve, so I just jumped to the passenger side as she hit me broadside on the drivers side.
That's twice I would have been dead had I been wearing a seat belt. A hundred bucks to me is a lot cheaper than my life. And I still have the accident reports that state had I been wearing a belt I most likely would have ended up dead.
So if you feel safe wearing them, by all means do so. Like motorcycle helmets, I believe in free choice. And my choice is to NOT buckle up based on past experiences.

If you believe in "free choice".... well, uh, what happens if I chose to wear my hat inside?
