Dear Jim~
With all of your interests, I really believe you would not have a problem with retirement especially if you were at TV. They have so many clubs and activities that you could stay active and do all the things you currently love. My husband and I only just retired in March and, quite honestly, the old adage seems to be true...how did we EVER have time to go to work!
However, I'm gonna vote for "snowbird" as kittylecroix put it - it's the best of both worlds - and then you could ease into it.
Incidently, my husband and I are finally home now and we are still talking about TV. And, of course, the house we were looking at sold which we knew it would.
