There is a lot to dislike about South of 44 in The Villages -- I won't debate that.

What I do like, which is turning lemons into lemonade, is that my Village is bordered by the Turnpike and a County or State, dunno, protected preserve. There will never be apartments, section 8 housing, Fish Games, multi-generational housing, etc. near my home -- everything is done, landlocked. In 5 years, I won't have to complain about scenic farmland turning into apartments, etc. I don't have to worry about any encroachment -- it cannot happen.

I like that we are closer to the airports, Universal, Disney, Tampa, etc. The turnpike is just a couple of miles away, 75 is just 5 minutes away. Costco, coming to Claremont, is just 40 minutes away. I like Orlando area shopping more than Ocala area shopping.

Shops and stores will come to the south -- Middleton and Eastport areas -- they will be new and clean. There will not be old and dingy communities near the south -- at least, not near the new lands of The Villages. There will be less blending of those communities -- which seems rampant in the north and middle Villages.

There is, genuinely, a LOT to like about the northern Villages, no doubt.

I've just learned to appreciate what I have.

When you're the only game in town, you can be unreasonable with pricing, quality and playability.

In my opinion, the southern areas of The Villages are marketed with smoke & mirrors. It's nothing like northern area and never will be. It doesn't look like The Villages, it doesn't "feel" like The Villages and the demographic is different.
