Ten years ago, I had a Carrier Xfinity, heat pump with a staged compressor installed by Summa AC and have not had one minute trouble with it.
I am able to control the humidity at 50%, independent of the temperature and find that a summer time setting of 78° at 50% humidity is very comfortable.
The unit runs as a 1 ton unit 84% of the time and a 4 ton unit when needed.
The staged unit saved me $65.00 a month on my electric bill (on average) over the previous year.
Big does not make a dealer better. Well trained, knowledgeable technicians and customer service are key.
