This does seem to be a common problem with Carrier based on a HVAC chat room. I would look high and low to buy another board. Even if they would not install it at least you would have a backup in case of another failure or a lightning strike.

Warranty? The warranty is proving to be useless to OP. Money wasted or stolen if the warranty co can't/won't get it fixed and won't have it replaced.
