See Post No. 8. It is unfortunate that the OP purchased a two speed compressor unit. Almost every new HVAC unit installed in The Villages is a single stage, one speed compressor unit. The builder installs hundreds of single stage Carrier units every year. Whenever I buy anything for my house that I need to depend on, I go with the standard, tried and true product. This applies to HVAC systems, water heaters, appliances, roofing, etc. A dual stage compressor costs more to purchase, is not more reliable, and really doesn't save very much, if anything, on electricity. And, I doubt that you would be waiting weeks for a replacement part for a single stage unit.
