The average savings from solar is from 50-150$ per month or lets say 1,200$ per year.
If the panes cost 15,000, could be low, the payback time is 12.5 years. This seems too long.
Now that their is a 30% tax credit, the sellers will raise the price at least 15%.
If you go with solar that has storage batteries the costs double and triple with more benefit, but, does it make and dollars and sense really. If you have solar and are paying nothing for electricity please weigh in on this. Please tell us what you paid for it as well.
let the sun shine in..........
I have no problem with solar power, or wind power either (which when you come down to it, is a form of solar power anyway). The more electricity we can generate without burning fossil or other kinds of fuels, the better off we all are.

The problem is that it is not consistent. Batteries can store only so much for only so long, and Mother Nature always has the last word on setting the conditions. Solar power in northern climes is problematic to say the least especially in winter when days are short and nights are loooooong...and even during the day, odds are it will be cloudy. Same for wind power, which it at it's most plentiful in fall and spring--when the need for it is least.

Non-fossil fuel - generated electrical power will be feasible when it can compete with fossil fuel or nuclear-powered generating plants. Until then, it is a great supplement but that is all.
