It is a fact that the vast majority of condenser units in The Villages have single stage compressors, and many of the parts are universal parts, which makes it much easier to locate a part and repair the unit. But, a lot of the parts used in dual stage compressors are proprietary, and they can only be purchased from the compressor manufacturer. I suspect that is why the OP cannot get his system repaired. Also, dual stage compressors are more suitable for use in multi-story houses where there are two thermostats and two or more cooling zones. And, they are more expensive, so they are more advantageous where electricity rates are higher than in The Villages. I would not recommend buying a dual or variable speed compressor for a one story, single zone house in The Villages.
