The Trane XV model is a high end, multi-speed compressor unit. He also said that the unit needs a computer board, which sounds like a proprietary part that cannot be purchased from anyone except the manufacturer. I doubt that any HVAC company would have one of these top-of-the-line models sitting around and available to swap out a computer board, because most people do not buy these expensive units. It is probably a special order. Hence, he needs to wait for the part.
Sorry, but to me that sounds even worse. Your high-end customers get hung out to dry when they have a, very likely well known, problem. Bet they were made to feel special when being sold on the fancy expensive unit. No excuses when a little extra time, effort and money could have gotten the part or replaced the unit temporarily with a basic model so they wouldn't have to "sweat it out" for so long. What is customer relations worth? What is good will worth? What is your corporate image worth?
