If you want to re-plant anything in that spot, grinding the stump will leave too many underground roots to plant anything larger than a 3 gallon. Most small trees/large shrubs will do badly planted on top of these root balls.

Good Landscape companies (there are less than 5 in the area) will dig the tree out, and NOT cut the tree down 1st. The trunk helps get the stump out. But this will likely cost more than cutting it down and stump grinding.

There is a tree farm that will PAY YOU for your trees and remove them/clean up area . But only if your trees are quality trees good for re-sale. They come look for free and make an offer. I forget the name of the place, but I know they come to the Villages every week or so to look at trees, and do a lot of removals when they come every few months to pick up trees. I have a past customer that is getting rid of 5 sylvesters and getting paid for them next month. The nursery is down south around the Tampa area if I remember correctly.
