No argument here, Steve.
But your description of our government is exactly why I would like to see Charlie Crist make a run for the Presidency. He couldn't change things all by himself, of course. But if he could introduce the same kind of governance that seems to be in effect here in Florida, we'd all be a lot happier, I think.
Are there differences of opinion and political objectives between Republican Crist and the Democratic House and Senate in Florida? I'm sure there are. But when faced with a problem--the most recent state budget is a good example--observe how the job seems to get done. For whatever reason, that group of state elected representatives seems to get their heads together, put aside their differences, and work for the good of the residents of Florida.
By the way, while I give Charlie Crist props for being a part of this type of governance, from what I recall, Jeb Bush was equally effective during his two terms as Governor. I haven't been around long enough to remember whether things were the same when Buddy McKay or Lawton Chiles held the post.
So, while some may differ, the more effective style of governance that we've enjoyed here in Florida is the reason why I would like to see Charlie Crist in the mix come 2012.
Now...let the moaning and wailing begin. How many posts will it take for someone to accuse Crist of being a RINO?
