The buy the slice model works everywhere else in the US. Most pizza places just throw out the unconsumed slices after a predetermined time.
I've been to fairly high end pizza places in bigger cities and many, if not most still offer slices.
No one wants to carry around a half of an unconsumed pizza while they hang around Sawgrass for other things.
