If it before his cut, then the commercials are deceptive. But, in the ads, Dan says that he gets the money from an insurance company. If so, the total settlement would need to be about $2 million to allow the client to receive a $1 million payout. That means that the insured driver would need to have that much in liability coverage. Very few insured drivers have that much liability coverage, except for large companies and wealthy people. Most auto insurance companies won't even sell you a two million dollar liability policy, unless you buy an umbrella policy. Last year, I got an insurance quote from Geico, and the highest liability coverage they would offer was $250K. So, I am skeptical of the claims made in the commercials.
