All of the belts that I have purchased in retail stores have been layered belts, even though some of them appear to be solid leather. The ones that have stitching on the edges are most likely layered, but some layered belts are glued together, and they may appear to be solid leather. If you want a durable belt, buy a solid leather belt, but you may have trouble finding one, especially if you are shopping in retail stores, and you will probably pay more for it. My two cents worth.

Robot or human?
After using it for 8 years it is most definitely solid leather.
