The horizontal sliders are the cheapest, but they always have to be moved by hand and yes, they are always in the wrong place. If you have a car and a cart in a 1 1/2 garage they are a pain. Vertical screens are motorized, with super convenient remote controls. The screens which operate on the same track as the garage door are much more expensive than those on separate tracks. I'm not sure why, but they actually have the disadvantage of both not being able to be down together. If the vertical screen has a light screen color, they look like a door and are very private from the outside. From inside, you can see everything, but the look is different. I think someone would have to be rather impaired to walk into one. The separate track vertical was an easy choice for me. The I got lucky and found one in a TOTV ad that was slightly used but had to be removed when the owner bought a new (Par Car) golf cart. It was too high to clear the extra few inches which the roll-up screen boxes need. Then I hired the Solar Guys to install the unit, which they willing to do even though I had not purchased it from them. They did a great job for a very reasonable price.
If I didn't know better, it's stuff like this that makes me feel really smart.
