Where I come from (yep) - if the town needed to inform everyone about something, they'd mail out a flyer. It wasn't up to the resident to think "oh I should check every day to make sure I don't miss something important." It was the town's responsibility to inform its citizens.
Posting a big notice on the postal station board might've helped but I don't recall seeing one there either.

You can always get factual information on the District Site and can sign up for different notifications..... like AAC meetings and Budget Meetings.
