The failure of Russia to crush the Ukraine is a wake-up call for all "World Powers", just as Vietnam was for the USA.
The USA has used its wealth to influence many countries worldwide but that doesn't mean that it, or China, is aiming for "World Domination". That kind of thinking powered the arms race, which benefited military leaders and suppliers enormously but has not done much good for the man in the street.
