True that the rear-wheel hub drives are cheaper than the mid-drive models. I paid around $ 1,000 for my Rad Mission model. It has their smaller hub motor with 500 watts and a top speed of 20 mph. I felt that The Villages has few hills and 20 mph is good enough for what I do.
