You don't judge a weather pattern by one event. Go to NASA and look at the graphs, look at the changes, especially since the year 2000. The Global Warming and related events are increasing at a faster pace. If you have been watching the Weather Channel, you would know that catastrophic weather events have been increasing and have been more damaging.

Why do people try to deny it? Why do they listen to politicians and not professional scientists like those that work for NASA and the NOAA? I guess you simply don't want to accept it, so it's better to try to deny it so you can ignore it and live as you have been living. Yes, an "Inconvenient Truth" was the perfect title for Gore's film and what he was predicting is coming true and yet people continue to deny it.
