Well maybe, seems many times truly interesting cultural issues are labeled as "politics", yes, I know the difference and that they can merge, but the cultural morays and cultural anthropology of a people is not purely "politics".

Sometimes I think people too often just assume that people of one political persuasion or another (meaning BELONGING to a political party) MAKES them a supporter or a objector to this or that (masks, shots, boosters, pronouns, immigration, on and on), and of course people's political views can nudge the "culture" (meaning the collective of a people) as it evolves, but in my opinion we "jump" too often to explain them politically, when in reality, gradual cultural change has taken place far before anyone even "invented" political parties.. yet there have always been "political views" (just check them out in the Bible), they just may not have been recognized with the term "political". As for the Marines, latest "news" seems to be that it is highly unlikely the USMC will be changing soon, we'll see. In the meantime, Semper Fi from this Marine family !
