You do if you are using the roundabout correctly.
If turning left, you enter the inside lane and stay in it until you want to exit. You do NOT move into the outside lane and then turn, but turn from the inside lane, across the outside lane.
That is why those in the outside lane need to be paying attention, positioned correctly, and allow those in front to make their turn ACROSS them.
If going straight over, you (usually) have the option of going in either lane, but if you choose the inside lane you still stay in it until your exit.
