Played Richmond pitch & putt for the first time today.
The good:
Greens were in great shape. Putts ran quick and smooth. Marsh Bend greens are slow and choppy in comparison.
Course layout is straightforward.
The golf cart parking is good. Very short walk to the starter shack.
The bad:
Lots of soft/wet areas on the course.
Some of the holes are a little too close together. I accidentally overdrive one of the early holes and not by much and my ball ended up in the middle of another green while people were about to putt on it.
Some of the walkways between holes are rough and not really finished pathways.
Feels strange that after the 9th hole you're left far from the starter shack with no way to exit the course without playing the back 9, or walking all the way back. I'm sure that it's not uncommon for someone to decide they're not up to finishing the back nine due to time or not feeling well.
The group in front of me was 4 people + a "spectator". The spectator held up the pace of play by running around with a ball retriever trying to look for "free" golf balls on every hole that had a water hazard. Would be nice if there was a specific rule against this.
Overall:
Enjoyed the course and look forward to playing again.
