I've always liked the idea of a flat tax for everyone at 5%, then extra for good ol' Social Security. Of course, it may throw CPAs, IRS agents & company CFOs out of work, but there would most likely be more jobs out there in other areas. Just withdraw the amount on W-2s, a line item on 1099s and quarterly filings by companies. Then MAYBE DC could learn to live within its means. At least, it's a start...
