The insurance companies don’t want to pay fraudulent roof claims. However it costs them more in legal fees to fight, than it does to replace the roof. The attorneys know this and leverage that knowledge to get their fees and the homeowner a new roof. In time, the new law DeSantis signed should help, but it doesn’t change overnight. Rate increases we are now seeing were approved by the state LONG before this new law was passed and has nothing to do with the new law, nor does it give insurance companies the ability to screw with customers. A little common sense knowledge about capital markets would answer many of these complaints.
I don’t like rate increases either. My Progressive policy is slated to increase from $1900 to $2900 in March….but if we were closer to the coast it would be many multiples of that, if we could get it at all.
