I can't remember who the pro was but he took his club out, and knocked it 50 yards into the ocean. Seems the wind took that particular moment to stop for a rest. The look on that guy's face, and the look he and his caddy shared was priceless.
But, the hole, and your comment, do illustrate that distance isn't everything.
EDIT: it wasn't #7, it was #17.

Yes, #17 at Pebble is usually about 185 yards, the very back is 208. #7 is the short par 3, and there are plenty of bogies made by touring pros on that hole, the most I've seen it play is 108.
