I agree with you. I always thought Zelle, PayPal, and Venmo were same as cash. I use them in my business, but when the first 10 responses were demanding me to give them my Zelle account info and telling me to open a zelle since I told them I didn't have one, I Googled Zelle payment scam. I read many many posts researching it and I'll be damned if it wasn't a latest scam. Zelle is connected to your bank account, so that's the reason they want it so bad. I don't remember how it works, I just know that you don't use it with unknown people. I was also shocked to know they can swipe their money back from Venmo and Paypal.
