You (or your friend) need to be very careful, many of the transport 'companies' are just brokers for the actual truck drivers, there are some companies where you deal directly with the truck drivers. Our solution (Amtrak autotrain) will probably not work as you get on the train in Lorton Virgina and off in Sanford, Florida, so there would be several hours of driving on each end. We did move one car (a classic) WITH our furniture, not cheap but it worked.
