One of the things that I have been disappointed in is Florida produce. Since so much of the produce that you get up North during the off-season comes from Florida, I thought that being closer to the source would result in really great produce. That has not been the case. I think the reason for this is that the produce has been bred for shipping and not flavor. The biggest disappointment is in strawberries. When the local-grown, Plant City berries are in season they have the same tasteless and juiceless characteristic as those shipped north. The good news is that they seem to be priced a bit lower than up North and the season does last a LOT longer than the few weeks of northern strawberries.
