Around the time I was in 1st grade, at a Catholic Parochial school in Cincinnati, I remember a priest advising the flock that the movie "L'il Abner" was on the "Condemned" list, because of the scantily clad women. I'm pretty sure his warning had the opposite effect of the one he intended.
I also remember a discount store, "Arlen's" I think it was called, being condemned because they planned on being open on Sundays.
Remember when The Stones had to change the lyrics from "Let's spend the night together" to "let's spend some time together" to appease Ed Sullivan and his censors?
I think I read once that audiences gasped out lout when Rhett Butler announced that he didn't "give a damn".
So, if you were deeply offended by the halftime show, I invite you join the rather large group of (mostly now dead) people who feel, or have felt, that any form of artistic expression that goes beyond the bounds of their particular sensitivities is vulgar, reprehensible, and proof of the "moral decline" of society. You'll be comfortable in this group. It's a large one.
