We almost always walk in the road, occasionally hopping on the grass when traffic comes. BUT... Dogs, being dogs, they will let you k ow when they have to do what they have to do.
My dog has never gone in the street and we'll let her go a foot off the curb.
If that makes us horrible people, I'll proudly wear that badge...
