I spend a sizable amount of money on my lawn and do not want others to use it without my permission. Is there anything wrong with that? Would you want visiting family members of your neighbors playing football, or volleyball on your lawn without asking?

The comparison fails... I don't take my dog for a "walk thru Lowes"...
When dogs are inside, they typically do not "use the facilities" (assuming they are housebroken...)
Are you really comparing "playing football or volleyball" with a dog peeing on a few square inches of your grass?
