I agree that his words must be taken at face value since what he meant is not absolutely sure - but I think he more likely meant to stay away from Black neighborhoods.

Not that it is OK to even say "stay away from Black neighborhoods", it carries the assumption they are high crime neighborhoods. Or in Adams case, he thinks it is high crime and a majority there "hate" which people (which he is mistaken about, as I said).
No, he read the poll correctly. You have it a bit backwards....

The question was "Is it okay to be white". Only 53% of Black Americans stated, yes, it is okay to be white. 42% strongly agreed, and 11% "somewhat agreed" (42+11=53). 9% "somewhat disagreed" with that statement. 18% "STRONGLY disagreed" with than statement (9+18=27), and 21% "were not sure". Hence, he stated that "almost half" (27+21) DID NOT agree with the statement that "It's Okay to be White"...

He quoted Don Lemon about the problems with certain (black) neighborhoods, and agreed with him. Don Lemon moved to a different neighborhood and Adams did the same...

He went on to say that he thinks this cannot be fixed. That he's done trying to fix it.
