Will go up to $30 as of Aug 19 and they won't give you damage protection unless they are in a hard shell bag containing 1 set clubs, bag, and shoes only. Golfing equipment containers measuring over 62” (157 cm) L+H+W that contain other items in addition to or in place of appropriate golf equipment will be subject to an oversize fee.

United charges are the same but allow 75" for the size of the bag and Delta allows 80"
United charges $50 dollars if oversize and another $50 if its over 50lbs.
So a exlarge hardshell bag could run $260 round trip.
Delta charges $15 for overweight (again 50 lbs) during non holiday periods.

My husbands single bag hardshell that will fit his cart bag is just under 75"
