Jeweler's rouge is a commonly used mild fine abrasive. Many sources. You can buy a lump to be used on a buffing wheel-hardware store or craft store. Far as jeweler's, many polishes for silver use, contain Jeweler's rouge. Cost I don't know there is a stand at Marion flee market who will do it while you shop.
Plastic in Jr, High? I must be getting old. I still remember The Graduate and advice to Dustin Hoffman that plastics are the future. We had popsicle sticks and they were real wood.
