I disagree with the pattern of trying to embarrass newer posters who ask questions.
First of all, not everybody automatically knows how to do a search on here, and even if they do, the information to be found could be incomplete or quite dated. And sometimes people just want opinions or want to add further information to their own thinking.
Besides, a search can be time-consuming.
There is nothing wrong with asking questions. There are lots of newer posters and those posters might have questions — or answers. And some of us who have been around here forever might not mind answering — even if we already did — hundreds of years ago.
There is a definite pattern to the “go-look-it-up” responses. I find such posts to be rude in tone, coming off like high school kids saying, “We are sitting at the cool kids’ table and you’re not.” It’s an old routine.
As far as silly threads go, so what. I always wonder if posters who criticize the silly threads try to direct allll the different conversations when attending a big social gathering. Do they run around from group to group to make sure they approve of every conversation?
