I have one in my backyard that I planted years ago. It has and still does produce plenty of fruit. The only problem I have is I have to put netting over it to keep the birds from getting at the fruit. I used to cover it from the frost but this last winter I went north for Christmas and left it uncovered and it is doing just fine.
