If it is known in such detail for the POTUS to embellish, then why do we have to wait for health care reform to eliminate the waste?

The waste is the fuel for the special interest groups and lobbyists that have our representatives in their pocket.

I would think it would be reasonable to expect, as part of the new reform legislation, a commitment, a plan, some one responsible/accountable to make the savings happen.

In my opinion there will be nothing done. No plan = no action. No responsibility/accountability = no results.

Default result? A tax increase.

Hopefully I am wrong.

Do you think the savings will be realized and why?

I don't believe meaningful savings will be realized. There is NO incentive in the federal government to seek out and abolish waste. Power is enhance and remuneration enlarged proportionately to the size of ones budget. The only time that savings is accomplished is when a government department head is threatened with loosing his/her wholw department if cuts are not found.

With health care a whole NEW department will need to be created and staffed. Budgets and incomes of the employees will depend on their increasing the perception of their importance and if the department worked as good as OB would have us believe, the department would no longer be necessary. Cuts like that are never found in government. Too many piglets feeding on the pig.
